Welcome to the FBI Atlanta Division’s web site. As the primary investigative arm of the federal government, we are proud to protect and serve our fellow Georgians.  Our charge is enforcing some 500 federal laws and conducting sensitive national security investigations.  To accomplish our mission, we depend upon the support and cooperation of those we serve.

Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi River.  Our population exceeds 7.8 million with approximately 3.5 million located in the 14-county Atlanta Metropolitan Area.  Hartsfield International Airport, located just south of downtown Atlanta, is the busiest airport in the world.  In recent years, our state has experienced unprecedented growth, leading to continuing advances in technology, communications, and commerce.

Atlanta is largely regarded as the hub of the South.  The distinctive features of the city, surrounded by the charming Southern landscape of Georgia, present the Atlanta FBI with many unique challenges.  As the 11th largest field office, the Atlanta Division looks back with pride and looks forward with confidence as we prepare for the challenges of our future.

The FBI has always valued personal contact and will continue to do so.  However, we recognize the Internet as an unparalleled method for rapid communication.  We developed this web site as another way we reach out to the community.

On our web site, we describe some of the partnerships and task forces through which we work closely with other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.  The community information page provides press releases and describes ways we are involved with victims, witnesses, and volunteer activities.  We provide employment information for qualified persons who might consider a career with the FBI.

Through the fugitives page, we describe specific cases in which we seek your help.  The office locations page explains how we are organized and how you can contact us.

We cannot accomplish our law enforcement mission alone.  We encourage citizens to provide information about possible violations of federal law.  When necessary, we will take measures to protect your confidentiality.

Fighting crime is a shared responsibility.  At times, it is dangerous and difficult work.  But with your help, we can make our community a safer place.
