ATLANTA DIVISION MURDER FUGITIVE ADDED TO THE FBI'S LIST OF TEN MOST WANTED FUGITIVES

A fugitive from Columbus, Georgia, wanted for the murder of two individuals, has been added to the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list.

On July 20, 2007, the Columbus Police Department responded to a shooting incident in which two males sitting inside a truck had suffered execution-style gunshot wounds to the back of their heads. One of the victims died at the scene and the other died shortly afterward. Law enforcement investigation determined that Michael Jason Registe was allegedly responsible for these killings.

On July 22, 2007, the Columbus Police Department obtained two felony arrest warrants charging Registe with the murders. On July 23, 2007, a criminal complaint was obtained and a federal arrest warrant was issued charging Registe with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution in the United States District Court, Middle District of Georgia, Columbus, Georgia.

Registe is also wanted on an unrelated charge of aggravated assault in Columbus, Georgia, for a shooting which occurred in 2005. The victim in this shooting was severely wounded.

Michael Jason Registe is described as a black male, 5’8”, 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was born on December 26, 1982, in Ft. Benning, Georgia. Registe has the following tattoos: the words "South Side" on his upper right arm, Chinese letters and the words "706 Ganxta" on his upper left arm, and a picture of the cartoon character Yosemite Sam with the words "Stick Up Kid" written underneath it on his right forearm.

Michael Jason Registe is the 490th person to be placed on the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list, which was established in March of 1950. Since then, 459 fugitives have been apprehended or located, 150 of them as a result of citizen cooperation. Registe replaces Jon Savarino Schillaci, who was captured on June 5, 2008.

A reward of up to $100,000 is being offered for any information leading directly to the arrest of Michael Jason Registe. Individuals with information concerning Registe should take no action themselves, but instead immediately contact the nearest office of the FBI or local law enforcement agency. For any possible sighting outside the United States, contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
