Atlanta – Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Gregory Jones, FBI Atlanta, along with Fulton County Police Chief Cassandra A. Wang was arrested this past Friday evening, January 25, 2008 , as he stepped off an arriving flight at Atlanta ’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport . Wang had just returned to the U.S. via New York from China .

Information was received at the Atlanta FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) several weeks prior that Wang had departed on a trip to China but had left behind suspicious information/documents that indicated that Wang might possibly have intent on doing harm to person(s) unknown. Found at the residence were several guns, numerous police and SWAT uniforms, and associated police equipment, to include badges and several ballistic vests.

Based on the above and additional information that indicated that Wang had attended a recent law enforcement sponsored training course while portraying himself as a Cobb County Police Officer and wearing the uniform of same, Wang was charged by the Fulton County Police Department on the above Impersonation and Forgery related charges. Wang was taken to the Fulton County Detention Center subsequent to his arrest for further processing.

There are no federal charges pending against Wang. As background, the function of the FBI JTTF is to not only process incoming information and determine any nexus to terrorism but to also share that information with local and state law enforcement officials for any actions that agency deems necessary.

The public is reminded that all persons are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
