Atlanta - Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Gregory Jones, FBI Atlanta, announces the following arrest conducted by its Safe Child Task Force:

Steven J. Gonka, age 32, unemployed, from Hampton, Virginia, was arrested Monday afternoon, 6/11/07, at Clayton County, Georgia on federal charges related to traveling interstate with the intent to have sex with a minor child.

Gonka appeared yesterday before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Atlanta regarding these charges.

The above arrest was conducted by the FBI in conjunction with the Clayton County Police Department and the Alpharetta Police Department.

The Safe Child Task Force is an FBI led coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies working together to proactively target child sexual predators and producers/distributors of child pornography.

The above are merely allegations and the public is reminded that all persons are innocent until proven guilty.
