Atlanta – Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Gregory Jones, Atlanta office FBI, along with Chief Richard Pennington, Atlanta Police Department, announces the arrest on Friday, July 13, 2007 of Andre Lemar Rhodes, age 24, of Atlanta, for the June 25, 2007 armed bank robbery of the Regions Bank, 2833 Main Street, East Point, Georgia.

Rhodes was arrested by APD/FBI during a traffic stop in the vicinity of the Greenbriar Mall area of Atlanta. Rhodes, driving a newer model Dodge 1500 Ram truck with no license plate, was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Atlanta office FBI for questioning and processing. Rhodes has been charged, via federal criminal complaint, with one count of bank robbery and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a crime in connection with the

6/25/07 bank robbery at Regions Bank, East Point, Georgia. In that robbery, a lone black male entered the bank brandishing a handgun. During the robbery, he approached the teller line and, while pointing the handgun at bank employees, ordered the employees to the ground. The robber then approached an unarmed security guard and, while pointing his gun at him, ordered the guard to the ground.

Rhodes will appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Atlanta this afternoon, Monday, July 16, 2007, for his initial appearance.

The public is reminded that the above are merely allegations and that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
