Atlanta - Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Gregory Jones, FBI Atlanta, in conjunction with Fayetteville Police Chief Steven Heaton, announces the arrest yesterday evening of Willie George Ward, age 46, of Riverdale, Georgia, for the August 15, 2007 armed robbery of the South Crest Bank, 600 North Glenn Street, Fayetteville, GA.

In the above robbery, a lone black male entered the above South Crest Bank and, shortly after entering, fired one round from a silver 9mm handgun in a wall. The robber then began demanding money and produced a yellow bag for the tellers to place the money in. The robber then departed the bank on foot without further incident having obtained an undisclosed amount of money.

Ward was arrested at approximately 7:00 p.m. yesterday evening, 9/11/07, at an apartment building near Garden Walk Boulevard located off of Highway 85, Riverdale, Georgia.

Ward will appear this afternoon in front of a U.S. Magistrate Judge for his initial appearance on charges related to the above armed bank robbery.

The public is reminded that the above are allegations and that all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
