Atlanta – Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Gregory Jones, FBI Atlanta, announces the arrests of Lamel Raynard Diggs, age 21, of New York City, and Rictavius Tanario Malcom, age 21, of Decatur, Georgia, based on a federal criminal complaint charging both individuals with one count of armed bank robbery in connection with the May 3, 2007 robbery of the Bank of America, located at 5125 Oakbrook Parkway, Norcross, Georgia.

 

In the above robbery, two male robbers entered the bank and announced a robbery with one of the robbers jumping over the teller counter wherein he began taking money from several teller drawers. During the robbery, one of the robbers fired a round from his handgun while in the bank.  No one was injured and the robbers departed the bank without further incident, having obtained an undisclosed amount of money.

 

Witnesses observed the robbers depart the scene in a black Chevrolet Malibu vehicle.  That vehicle was located abandoned nearby.

 

Investigators developed Lamel Diggs and Rictavius Malcolm as suspects in the above robbery.   Diggs was apprehended by FBI Agents on Friday, 5/18/07 and Malcolm was apprehended Tuesday afternoon, 5/22/07.

 

Malcolm will appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday, 5/23/07,  for an initial appearance.  Diggs appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge for his initial appearance on Monday, 5/21/07.  It is anticipated that both will have additional court appearances later this week.

 

                        The public is reminded that the above are merely allegations and that all persons are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
