Atlanta – Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Gregory Jones, FBI Atlanta, today announces the arrest of Bryant Butler, age 22, on Assault with intent to commit Murder charges.

Butler surrendered to Special Agents of the FBI and Detectives of the Columbus Police Department at the Columbus Police Department Headquarters on the evening of May 15 th, 2007. Butler was taken into custody at this location without incident. This investigation is related to the shooting of Vincent Henry, age 19, which occurred in the parking lot of the Automotive Skills Center, at Ft. Benning, Georgia on May 15 th, 2007. Henry was transported to the Columbus Regional Medical Center and treated for a single gunshot wound. Henry remains hospitalized in stable condition at this facility. The initial crime scene was processed by Special Agents of the United States Army Criminal Investigation Division Command (CID)-Ft. Benning, Georgia. This matter was jointly investigated by the FBI, Columbus Police Department and the Ft. Benning-CID.

Butler is scheduled for an initial appearance before United States Magistrate G. Mallon Faircloth at 4:00pm on May 16, 2007, in the United States Magistrate Courtroom. Upon a conviction of a violation of Title 18, Section 113(a), the maximum sentence is twenty years imprisonment.

Butler, like all persons arrested, should be considered innocent until such time as this matter receives its final adjudication.
