Atlanta – Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Gregory Jones, FBI Atlanta, announces the November 19, 2007 arrest of Kevin James Anderson, age 19, of Murphy, North Carolina, in connection with the armed robbery of the Bank of Hiawassee, Young Harris, Georgia, which occurred on September 14, 2006.

On Thursday, September 14, 2006 , two individuals entered the Bank of Hiawassee in Young Harris, Georgia ( Towns County ). One of the individuals was wearing an elastic bandage wrapped around his face and the other individual was wearing a dark cloth wrapped around his face in an effort to conceal their identities.

One of the individuals produced a .38 caliber revolver handgun and fired one round towards a bank employee. Both robbers departed the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Subsequent investigation led to a burnt 2006 Ford Mustang that had been stolen from King Ford on the morning of the robbery. It was determined that this was the getaway vehicle used in the above robbery.

Based on this, and other resulting developments in the investigation, led to Kevin James Anderson, age 19, of Murphy, North Carolina being developed as a suspect in the above robbery.

On November 19, 2007 , Anderson was taken into federal custody without incident for the above armed robbery. He was brought before U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Cole on that date for his initial appearance and was subsequently released on bond. Anderson is charged with violation of Title 18, United States code, Section 2113 (a) and (d), Bank Robbery.
