Third Man Sentenced to 180 Months for Armed Bank Robbery and Firearm Convictions
AUGUSTA, GA—Edmund A. Booth, Jr., United States Attorney for the Southern District of
Georgia, announced that Drew Jamal Pollard, indicted by a federal grand jury in April 2008, has been
sentenced by U.S. District Judge J. Randal Hall on his convictions of Armed Robbery of a Credit
Union, and Brandishing a Firearm During a Crime of Violence.
Booth stated that the evidence at the February, 2009 guilty plea hearing showed that in
December, 2007 that Pollard conspired with other individuals to rob the Richmond Community Federal
Credit Union located at EZGO on Marvin Griffin Road in Augusta and that Pollard and two other codefendants
robbed the credit union of more than $30,000 on December 20, 2007. The evidence further
showed that immediately prior to the armed robbery that Pollard and others carjacked a 74 year old
victim and then used the carjacked vehicle during the commission of the armed robbery.
Booth said that Pollard received 60 months of imprisonment for his conviction for robbery of the
credit union and a consecutive 120 months imprisonment for the firearms conviction for a total of 180
months (15 years) imprisonment. Booth added “there is no parole in the federal system”. Pollard will be
on supervised release for a term of 5 years upon his release from prison. He was also ordered to pay
restitution in the amount of $5109. 00.
The investigation involved the cooperative efforts of the Richmond County Sheriff’s
Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation; The government was represented by Assistant
United States Attorneys Patricia Green Rhodes and Stephen Inman.
