Maxwell Wood, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, announced that DAVID LEE SHANDOLOW, age 65, a resident of Americus was sentenced today, to a term of 97 months in prison, a $1,000.00 fine and supervised release for the remainder of his life before the Honorable W. Louis Sands, Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia after his guilty plea on October 25, 2007 to one count of possession of child pornography. SHANDOLOW’s sentence must be served in its entirety, as there is no parole in the Federal prison system. In SHANDOLOW’s plea agreement he admitted that he knowingly downloaded child pornography from the internet onto his personal computer. Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation seized SHANDOLOW’s computer on October 2006 when they executed a search warrant at SHANDOLOW’s residence. Forensic analysis of SHANDOLOW’s computer hard drive revealed multiple still and video images of minor children engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The computer contained over 600 images of child pornography. Wood remarked, “The child pornography industry exists only because there are individuals who want to make such purchases. The United States Attorney’s Office is dedicated to prosecuting all persons involved in the sexual exploitation of children to the fullest extent of the law.” The case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney K. Alan Dasher prosecuted the case. Inquiries regarding the case should be directed to Ms. Sue McKinney, Public Affairs Specialist, United States Attorney’s Office at (478) 621-2602. |
